Developing Life Cycle Cost models and using them to create cost effective solutions for technical and logistical systems are important logistics engineering tasks. An LCC model is a financial model for the purpose of comparing and evaluating alternatives and finding ways to reduce the total cost of ownership. The LCC model should typically include all significant future costs for the owner during the life span of the system. The technique to build and use an LCC model is called LCC engineering.
During the course, participants will learn all aspects of LCC:
- Developing LCC models – Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), parameters and input structures
- Application of LCC in different roles and situations
- How to use LCC models – sensitivity analysis
- Presentation and interpretation of results – the baseline concept
- How to avoid common mistakes
- LCC in logistics engineering
Today there are many different computer tools for building and using LCC models. One of the most modern tools is CATLOC – an LCC analysis tool developed by Systecon. During the course, CATLOC will be used to apply LCC techniques in common decision situations in logistics engineering. A successful LCC case study will be presented.
