Investing in the right spare parts. Ensuring the components are stocked in the right location. Dimensioning the maintenance organization optimally. Resource dimensioning simply entails ensuring that your system can perform at the required level while keeping the life cycle cost as low as possible.
To handle the challenges of these complexities, Systecon developed Opus Suite, consisting of three world-leading software applications: OPUS10, SIMLOX and CATLOC. These applications are used to optimize and dimension technical systems operations.
Using SIMLOX, we simulate operations with respect to maintenance plans as well as system and component failure rates, as well as external circumstances such as weather and wind conditions. We model the resources that are included in the maintenance organization and that are required to maintain the necessary system availability. A SIMLOX analysis is especially powerful when there are several operations and maintenance alternatives to choose from, and it is difficult to determine how certain factors impact production. For instance, the application makes it possible to evaluate if the expected increase in power production at an offshore wind farm is sufficient to justify the cost of adding a helicopter to the maintenance organization.
Using OPUS10 we can optimize the spare parts inventory for individual or multiple technical systems. Based on a given operational goal, e.g. availability, OPUS10 will provide the most cost effective solution. Using OPUS10 we can also easily identify and quantify synergy effects among systems. Optimizing with OPUS10 is superior to other methods and saves a lot on spare parts inventory capital costs by ensuring that the proper items are stocked in the right quantities and the right place.
